Goo Goo Dollsis an alternative rock band formed in 1985 in Buffalo, New York by guitarist/vocalist John Rzeznik and bassist/vocalist Robby Takac. They are perhaps most famous for the hit "Iris", featured on the soundtrack to the 1998 film City of Angels. Currently, the band consists of John Rzeznik (guitar, vocals), Robby Takac (vocals, bass) and Mike Malinin (drums). Early in their career, the Goo Goo Dolls were frequently dismissed by critics as mere imitators of the Replacements; however, the band refined and mainstreamed their sound enough to become one of the most popular adult alternative rock bands of the latter half of the '90s, selling millions of records to audiences largely unfamiliar with their inspirations. That's no knock on the band, either -- their music simply improved in craft and accessibility as the years progressed, and radio happened to be receptive to what a decade earlier would have been considered collegiate power pop.

You changed my face,
I think I like it better now.
It doesnt matter anyhow, cuz thats the way it is.
You said hello,
Well where the hell you been?
I said I feel like Ive been off to war,
And I may never be the same again.
I made my bed,
And now I cant sleep at night.
Cause Im tossin and turnin you know, you know it aint right.
Id love to beg,
See, but Im just too proud.
And I dont even know what to say, so Im thinking out loud.
And when you dream 17,
I aint there, so I dont care.
Cuz in all my dreams, Im 23,
And shes the girl right next to me.
See that girl right next to me.
I lie in my bed,
Youre running through my head.
Going over and over and over, the things that you said.
Im caught in a trap,
Ill run like hell right back to you.
Cuz Im sober with you and you know it beats drinking alone.
